The KrishiVigyan Kendra, Baramullaof ICAR-Central Institute of Temperate Horticulture organized Sankalp Se Siddhiprogrammehere today to take forward the initiative of Hon’ble Prime Minister for a new India movement during 2017-2022.

Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare,Government of Indiawas chief guestof theevent.The minister administered the pledgeto build a New India by 2022.Hesaid government under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is committed to double farmer’s income by 2022 throughseven-point development strategies. Earlier he visited the exhibition put up by variousstate departments and distributed kits to the progressive farmers. Shri Shekhawatalso laid the foundation stone of the Administrative building of KVK.

Shri Sunil Kumar Sharma, MOS for Agriculture, Govt. of J&K, emphasizedon the need for better application of technology towards enhanced farm productivityand make agriculture a profitable enterprise.

JenabMuzaffar Hussain BeighMember of Parliament, Baramulla constituency, highlighted the importance of agriculture towards improving living standards of farmers particularly through application of modern scientific techniques.

ShriDaljit Singh Chib, Vice-Chairman,Kisan Advisory Board, briefed about various central and state government schemes for welfare of the farming community.JenabMohammad Abbas Wani,MLA Gulmarg, also graced the occasion.

Earlier Dr.A K Singh, DDG (Agril. Extension), ICAR highlighted the importance of KVK in agricultural development and socio economic upliftment of the rural poor.

Dr. W S Dhillon, ADG (Horticulture), Dr. Rajbir Singh, Director, ATARI zone-I Ludhiana,Dr. Nasir Ahmad Naqash, District Development Commissioner Baramulla, Dr. D. B. Singh, Director CITH,representatives of agriculture, horticulture, floriculture, animal husbandry and other line departmentsof the district, head of various voluntary and social organizations participated in the event.

About 1500 Farmer, farm women and rural youths from different parts of the district participated in the programme.
