ICAR- Indian Institute of Soil Science and NTPC Limited has signed a joint agreement for execution of a long-term research project "Use of Fly Ash in agriculture for sustainable crop production and environmental protection" at Krishi Bhavan, New Delhi in presence of Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary, DARE and DG, ICAR and Mr. K.K. Sharma, Director (Operation), NTPC Limited, Noida.
The Research project will attempt to investigate on the impact of long-term fly ash application on soil, food and fodder quality under four major agrological zones and to make a firm recommendation for the purpose of formulating policy guidelines towards safe and maximum use in agriculture. Technical programme of the project will be carried out jointly by 5 Institutes/Universities including IARI, New Delhi; IGFRI, Jhansi; QUAT, Bhubaneswar and BCKV, Mohanpur under the leadership of IISS, Bhopal with a project duration of 120 months. NTPC will bear the cost of this project with allocated budget of Rs. 1257 lakhs.
