The ICAR-KrishiVigyan Kendra, Ernakulam of ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute, Kochicelebrated World fisheries day at Pizhala Island, Ernakulam today.
On this occasion Dr. A Gopalakrishnan, Director, ICAR-CMFRI launched the “Aqua Task Force” named KadamakudyMalsya Karma Sena to offer services of technically qualified farm labour to help boost fish culture especially cage culture.
Smt. ShaliniBabu, President, Kadamakkudygramapanchayath presided over the event.
Aqua task Force comprise of youngsters trained by KVK to undertake various works to assist fish farmers on payment basis. The task force would be capable of assisting farmers in farm design, cage fabrication, cleaning, pond preparation, seed sourcing, quality control, feed selection, etc. The team is also capable of making project reports with KVK’s technical backstopping and complete formalities for getting bank loans for any aquaculture ventures. They would be working under the technical guidance of KVK experts.
A seminar on fish farming and cage aquaculture was also organised in this occasion.
A hand book on FAQs on cage farming and a leaflet on GIFT Tilapia farming in regional language were released.
