Two-day Annual Zonal Workshop of Cluster Frontline Demonstration (CFLD) on Oilseeds & Pulses under NFSM & NMOOP was organized jointly by ICAR-ATARI, Zone-VI, Umiam and ICAR-ATARI, Zone – VII, Guwahati at Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat.
Dr. K. M Bujabaruah, Vice Chancellor, AAU, Jorhat, while inagurationg the workshop urged the KVKs for making NE self sufficient in oilseeds & pulses by utilizing the rice fallow land and to ensure double or even triple cropping in the region. He also released a publication entitled “Birding the rainbow”, a compilation of success stories brought out by ICAR-ATARI, Umiam.
Earlier Dr. Bidyut C. Deka, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Umiam highlighted the objectives of the workshop.
Dr. A. K. Tripathi, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Guwahati briefed about the activities of the Institute.
Dr. V. P. Chahal. Assistant Director General (Agriculture Extension) congratulated the KVKs for successfully implementing the CFLD programme in the region with the active support of both ICAR-ATARI Zone-VI & VII. He stressed on area expansion of pulses and oilseeds with latest technology and make the region self-sufficient in oilseeds and pulses in next 2-3 years.
More than 58 KVKS from eight North Eastern States participated in the programmeThey presented achievements during 2016-17 and Action Plan for 2017-18.
