‘Vanaraja’ birds distributed to tribal farmers by KVK Ri-Bhoi

Ri Bhoi, 8 February 2017.

With an objective to encourage the farmers to take up ‘Vanaraja’ farming at the village level so as to enhance meat and egg production and to promote backyard poultry farming as an alternative source of income for improvement of livelihood of rural tribal farmers and farm women, the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Ri-Bhoi distributed 100 numbers of’ Vanaraja’ chicks under TDC component of NICRA Project to 7 numbers of selected farmers from the NICRA adopted village Kyrde.

Dr Mokidul Islam (Senior Scientist & Head, KVK Ri-Bhoi) interacted with the farmers and explained about the benefits of ‘Vanaraja’ poultry birds over the indigenous poultry in back yard poultry farming to the farmers.
