Professional Society at the Institute

        The Indian Poultry Science Association (IPSA) came into being in 1965 and is presently located at this institute. The IPSA has been growing steadily with its membership crossing 1000 life members, 4 annual members and 23 institutional members. The Indian Journal of Poultry Science (IJPS) has been the mouthpiece of IPSA and being published regularly with three issues in a year. Regular assistance is also obtained from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) for its publication.  In recognition of the significant contribution of professionals, a number of awards viz Ayurvet Award, Kerala Chapter Award, Avitech Young Scientist Award and Dr. P.K. Pani award are being conferred every year.  The association has also started conferring award for best M.Sc./M.V.Sc. thesis in Poultry Science. “Lifetime Achievement Award” and “fellowships” to the distinguished professionals are also being conferred. IPSA has been organizing Annual Conference-cum-Symposium (IPSACON) regularly. The symposium provides platform for scientists, researchers, students, poultry entrepreneurs, management personnel, extension workers, planners, decision makers and other stake holders from all over world to share expertise, experiences, discuss issues/ concerns  related to both commercial and small scale rural poultry production, processing and marketing of poultry products, etc. and suggest strategy to overcome the constraints for augmenting poultry production for employment generation and nutritional security through poultry farming and also to open up frontier areas of research to scientists and technocrats to augment this sector imbibed with socio-economic issues.  In this series, it organized its 27th IPSA Convention and International Symposium on "Rural Employment Generation and Nutritional Security through Poultry Production" during 22-24 Dec. 2011 at Bihar Veterinary College, Patna, the ancient city of Patliputra. The website (www.ipsa-cari.org.in) has also been revised.
