Libarary and Information Services

           CARI Library is a rich resourceful centre of publications pertaining to various sub-disciplines of Poultry Science under one roof in India. Library provides the services and support to scientists, research scholars and students of Deemed University, IVRI, Izatnagar. It houses about 5587 books including bound volumes of scientific journals pertaining to Poultry Science and allied subjects and Poultry Science theses. The library subscribes 16 scientific journals out of which 8 are reputed foreign abstracting, review and other avian journals.

Services Provided

Literature Search / Internet Services :

The library provides CD-ROM literature searching through CD-ROM of BEAST CD and AGRIS CD database, besides internet and e-mail services for which there are 02 workstations available in the library. These services are free of cost to the staff and students of CARI/ IVRI, Izatnagar.

Online Journal(e-journal):

Through Consortium for e-Resources in Agriculture (CeRA) facility  (URL: http://www.cera.jccc.in) , CARI library is providing online full text/ abstracts access/ download facility of research article  from journals.

Computerization of CARI Library Data

The library has computerized its data so that searching and retrieving library resources can be much easier and faster for its users. The library database application consists of two sections: (1) Search Database and (2) Edit Database. In ‘Search Database’ section, user can search complete database on the basis of important keywords along with use of logical operators ‘and’, ‘or’ etc. The relevant data that match with keywords are displayed, which can also be saved as simple text file or printed on paper for future use. The ‘Edit Database’ section is restricted to the database administrator only where he can add new record, edit or modify existing record or delete a particular record. Simple search operation can also be undertaken in this section. It has updated this database with complete bibliographical information on books, compendium, proceedings, thesis etc. that are currently available. This new user-friendly application is now operational and scientists and students can utilize this facility to search and retrieve their required information on CARI library resources smoothly and quickly.
The CARI Library Database has been conceived, designed and developed completely in the institute by untiring efforts from Dr.  M. Nath (Scientist) and Shri S. Bhatnagar (In-charge, Library).

Photo Copy

The photocopy / Xerox facility of the library is also available for day-to-day requirement of library users.

Working Hours

The library remains open on all working days from 10.00 AM to 5.00 PM. On sundays and other public holidays, the library remains closed.
