Set up

Agricultural Engineering and Technology Division plays a pivotal role in increasing the productivity and profitability of agriculture through its programmes in five broad areas, viz. (i) farm mechanization, (ii) post harvest conservation and value addition, (iii) irrigation and drainage engineering, (iv) energy management, and (v) information Technology. The Division has 6 Institutes, 6 All-India Co-ordinated Research Projects, 30 ad-hoc and 18 revolving fund schemes. .

Thrust Areas

  • Development of precision mechanization systems and strategies for carrying out timely and efficient agricultural operations .
  • Development of mechanization systems for dry land agriculture, hill agriculture, horticulture, livestock and fisheries.
  • Minimization of occupational hazards and maximization of work efficiency in agricultural operations
  • Development of implements and machines suited to women farm workers
  • Energy management, processing of biofuels and utilization of non-conventional energy sources in agricultural production and processing activities
  • Reduction of post harvest losses, value addition to agricultural produce and utilization of agricultural residues and processing byproducts .
