12. Action on the Review
Team Report
- The report received from the
Peer Review Team is examined by the AB
Secretariat/ Education Division and forwarded to
the Chief Executive Officer of the institution
for information and comments.
- The recommendations of the
Peer Review Team and response of the institution
are examined by the AB Secretariat/Education
Division and submitted to the AB with its own
comments. The Chief Executive Officer of the
institution may be invited for discussion, if
felt necessary, before finalizing the comments.
- The AB considers the Peer
Review Team report, responses of the institution
and also the comments of the AB
Secretariat/Education Division and takes final
decision on the accreditation status of the
concerned institution/program.
- Before the final decision,
the Board ensures that all the due steps have
been taken with care to arrive to a particular
recommendation, including full opportunity to the
CEO to put his views, if necessary even in the
Board meeting.
- The Board has following three
options under the approved accreditation process.
- It can grant full and
unconditional accreditation.
- It may decide to
grant provisional accreditation, if the
Board finds that the institution has
strengths and carried out its mission
with reasonable success, but there are
weak areas that can be improved.
- If the institution is
not fulfilling most of the criteria and
does not have reasonable resources to
fulfill the criteria in specified time
frame, the institution may be denied
accreditation.
- The institution will get a
written communication about the Board decision.
- The institution also gets
Letter of Accreditation, if accredited.
- The decision of the Board is
final and is not subject to appeal.
